Live your dream!

For a long time, I always dreamed of living somewhere in the South. Where the sun shines more than 300 days a year and it's simply summer. The sea is essential to me, and preferably on an island.

On November 1, 2012, I fulfilled this dream – I flew to the island on a one-way ticket and left my old life behind me—well, not exactly easily, but completely. At 6:30 in the morning, I was sitting on the plane heading south, and as the big, tinny plane took off, my eyes filled with tears. It was the most emotional and wonderful moment of my life! Words simply cannot describe this feeling inside me!

Four and a half hours later, the tin bird landed safely on the runway after a wonderful flight into my new life! With my very first breath on the island, I had the indescribable feeling of coming home, of finally having arrived! The sun was shining brightly, and the temperature I felt made me quickly take off my jacket and thick shirt. With my 10 kg of hand luggage, I walked to the exit of the arrivals hall and waited for my contact person to pick me up. I contacted him by email three days before my departure and asked him to pick me up, as I wanted to emigrate to the island. I can still see his surprised face when I told him that this was all the luggage I had with me for my emigration. I had already sent a few important items by postal parcel to the address of my hotel, where I stayed for the first four weeks. It was such an indescribable feeling, words cannot describe the fact that I had left my entire life behind and now faced a completely new beginning – probably the greatest challenge of my life!
