My radio alarm clock gave me a lot of joy

There are things between heaven and earth that remain questionable.

I brought my radio-controlled alarm clock with me from my old life to the island. But with it, I still had German time, because there's a time difference between Germany and the island. My idea was that a radio-controlled alarm clock would automatically set the correct time, including the correct island time.

That's not the case, as my radio alarm clock clearly shows me.

When I arrived on the island, I took out the batteries, waited a moment and put them back in the alarm clock to activate it. The hands went around a few times and then both stopped at twelve, they didn't move a millimeter, great! They were still there 24 hours later. OK, I thought, maybe the batteries are dead, I bought new batteries and put them in, then the game started all over again. The hands went around a few times and stopped at twelve and didn't move any further! It was still there the next day, then I thought to myself, if I don't want to, then I don't need new batteries now, so I changed them again. The game repeated itself a third time with the old batteries.

I put the radio alarm clock in the corner.

After a few days I remembered my alarm clock, oh there was something! I looked at it and it had found its old German time again. Oh well, that's the way it is! But somehow I couldn't get it out of my head as to why it was showing German time, so from time to time I played the game of “remove batteries and put batteries in”! But the result was always the same! Last week my beloved radio-controlled alarm clock completely threw me. When I woke up in the morning and looked at it, I had the feeling that something was different than usual. I got up and went about my daily routine, like every other morning, but when I looked at the clock in the kitchen I was a bit confused. I had just seen that time on my radio-controlled alarm clock, and there was a huge question mark on my face. So I went upstairs to the bedroom and made sure, yes indeed it was the same time, wow what a surprise, after more than 18 months my radio alarm clock had finally managed to set the island time.

I was happy and let it go.

In the afternoon I remembered my radio alarm clock and checked again to see if it was really like that. In the kitchen I looked at the island time, then I went upstairs and looked at my alarm clock, and yay, it was right - island time! It was like I had received a wonderful present. My joy was short-lived. The next morning it was all over! My radio alarm clock had decided on German time after all, for whatever reason, it obviously didn't like island time. In any case, before I had really taken it in, I ran downstairs and back up again two or three times to compare the clocks. Unbelievable, I had to laugh at myself for what I had done!
